Port Freeport Phase II Rail Expansion and Mode Conversion
CRISI Application
In 2018, TGC developed a grant application for Port Freeport for the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program, which provides funding opportunities for private, state and local agencies to support safety enhancements and general improvements to infrastructure for intercity passenger and freight railroads. Port Freeport submitted a request to improve infrastructure and increase rail capacity. Phase II aims to provide an additional four main tracks and five storage tracks, totaling 24,000 additional feet of track.
TGC compiled various grant application details, including project description, funding, eligibility, implementation, and readiness as well as a Statement of Work and robust benefit-cost analysis.
Port Freeport was awarded the requested $6.3 million. Grant funding was awarded to 45 projects in 29 states, and Port Freeport was the sole awardee in the State of Texas.
