Houston Southeast Multimodal Mobility Planning & Engineering

TGC provides professional planning and engineering services for Houston Southeast (Greater Southeast Management District) to help further their organizational objectives. Specific projects include:

Evaluated bus stops within the District to identify locations for amenity enhancements with the installation of custom bus shelters. The transit shelter design was facilitated by TGC and coordinated with the District. TGC facilitated completion of the METRO approval process.

Developed 100% plans, specifications, and estimates for the permitting and approval of the bus shelter improvements throughout the District. This process included submission to the Office of the City of Houston Engineer and Code Enforcement Department.

Led intergovernmental coordination and advocacy processes related to the METRO Next planning process involving the extension of the “Purple Line” through the District to Hobby Airport. The process included the preparation and delivery of a presentation to key METRO staff and officials.

Developed a comprehensive planning approach and supporting grant application to remedy a dangerous rail/vehicular intersection within the District. Coordination was extensive and included the City of Houston, TxDOT, UPRR, BNSF, and appointed/elected officials. This effort included the development of a nationally competitive Consolidated Rail Infrastructure Safety Initiative (CRISI) grant with full benefit-cost analysis. The $1M application to complete preliminary engineering was submitted for funding consideration by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).

Completed construction administration and compliance phase services for neighborhood greenways along low traffic streets within Houston’s Third Ward Community. Additional services included intergovernmental coordination, technical analyses, environmental documentation, procurement, and design review and oversight.

TGC was proactive in bringing this matter to our attention and running point on the proactive planning and coordination involved. TGC expedited an informative and aesthetically pleasing presentation, which illustrated our questions, comments, and concerns. TGC was integral in coordinating discussions with our partner agencies and assisting in navigating a planning approach, which was supported by all involved.
