TGC completed advanced planning and funding implementation assistance for the Round Rock Intermodal Terminal and Parking Facility. The facility featured a 56k square-feet, two-story structure with 110 parking spaces, a bus loading/ unloading area, a transit pavilion, bike racks and lockers, and pedestrian amenities. While the initial construction accommodated 110 cars on two floors, the building was actually designed so that three more floors of parking could be added in the future. Similarly parking spaces along the street were designed to be converted into ground floor retail.
The project was submitted for programming in the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Improvement Program. TEA-LU authorized $1 million in funding to support construction costs. TGC submitted an application to FTA requesting a LONP to capture the value of downtown streetscape improvements that supported transit. These federally eligible transit-related improvements were funded through a local bond for this and other capital improvements and contributed to the local share for this $5.2 million project, significantly relieving the local cash requirement for its construction. The facility was completed in 2010.
