TGC was engaged by Sun Metro to develop a dedicated central transfer facility for its fixed-route and rubber-tire trolley services. The result, the Oregon Street Transit and Pedestrian Mall, now coordinates over 4,000 transfers each day in this very busy central-city square. TGC’s work entailed managing the construction of redevelopment along three city streets to create 26 bus bays and expanded pedestrian space. Additional amenities included lighting, landscaping, shelters, benches, information kiosks, and rest rooms.
Feasibility Studies & Environmental Assessment
TGC led a team to develop the advanced planning which included site selection, parking impact studies, traffic circulation analysis, and an environmental assessment. Facility layout and design criteria were developed under TGC’s guidance.
TGC assisted Sun Metro in successfully programming Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program funding to support this $6.5 million project. TGC also prepared the grant documentation to support an application to the Federal Transit Administration for the programmed funds.
