Transportation Planner or Transportation Engineer
The Goodman Corporation (TGC) has an Associate I/II, Transportation Planner or Transportation Engineer, position available in our Houston office. Candidate should have at least 1-5 years of planning experience working in transportation, transit and/or urban planning, or engineering. TGC has over 30 years’ experience in developing and implementing transportation-related capital projects for public and private sector clients primarily in Texas but also throughout the U.S.
We are looking for:
- Self-starters: TGC is a small, privately owned firm. We highly value individuals who are comfortable taking initiative.
- Flexibility: TGC Associates need to be adept at time and task management. You may need to coordinate a diverse workload that could include: drafting a report on economic benefits of transit improvements, analyzing demographic data to better understand the transit market, or preparing materials for a public meeting.
- Technical: TGC is seeking an individual that is familiar with GIS including analysis and interpretation of data, cost-benefit analysis, interpreting travel demand model results, Syncho results, traffic analysis, creating and understanding roadway cross sections, and experience with other technical analyses. A strong background in Microsoft Excel is required. An understanding of transportation planning concepts to include level of service, functional classification, and local, state, and federal transportation facility design standards is required.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience with transportation planning, community, and/or regional planning processes and principles; project management basics; GIS; familiarity with federal and state transit funding programs; technical analysis; traffic analysis; community participation process/facilitation experience; and MS Office Suite. A master’s degree is preferred. A bachelor’s degree with related experience will also be considered. AICP certification is a plus.
